I’VE BEEN TAGGED…Kiwi Cake & ‘Meme’ in My 100th POST!!

Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!’

KIWI FRUIT in a Sponge with Fresh Cream, Almonds & Marmalade
I can’t believe that its time for my 100th post. Phew…it’s been a long journey by my meagre standards when I entered the world of bloggers a few months ago, with thoughts if I would last it out. Can say I’m having a great time & am still in awe of bloggers who’ve been around for years. It’s a wonderful world out here in the blogosphere which goes by the mantra “THE MORE, THE MERRIER”!!
My post for today (commemorative, if I may add) is for one of our faves…the Kiwi Fruit Cake with almonds & marmalade. Have made this cake before, but thought I’d change it a bit. The recipe is the same as before, but without ground almonds in the cake. Instead, I’ve used a basic sponge recipe as in the pineapple cake, & have added almond essence instead of pineapple essence.
I’ve been tagged for the ‘Life in Fours Meme’ by Shweta who has me drooling over her daal makhani and chaat! Bet she didn’t know that ‘chaat‘ is on my list of fave foods!! It took me some time and surfing to figure out what a ‘Meme’ was…the name puzzled me endlessly, till Shweta enlightened me! Here goes…

Four places I’ve lived in:
Delhi, India
Bangalore, India
NOIDA, India
Gurgaon, India

Four jobs I ( thankfully never) had:

Teaching – would have torn my hair out
Acting – would’ve died of stage-fright
Bank teller – the monotony would kill me
Working in a restaurant – the pressure would ruin my happiness ‘coz I like to enjoy what I do at leisure

Four favorite places I’ve holidayed in:
Moscow
Sydney
London
Hong Kong

Four favorite foods:
Pizza
Pasta
Chaat (Indian street food)
Anything to do with coffee/bitter chocolate

Four places I would rather be:
At a potter’s wheel
Chilling on a beach
In a busy spice market in Istanbul
In Betty Crocker’s Kitchen :0)…

Four bloggers I would like to tag:
Zlamushka at her Spicy Kitchen
Vege Yum at A Life (Time) of Cooking
Julian Fairchild (Chef Jules) at Gourmet a Go-Go
Rich at A Photo A Day from Planet Earth

…& for those who are still wondering,

Me-me’s are just a way to talk about yourself 🙂 They can be of different themes but they always revolve around you. For example “Life In Fours” me-me tells us what your four favorite foods are, what are your four favorite holiday spots etcetra etcetra..the point is just to get to know each other more!

About me: I am a freelance food writer, recipe developer and photographer. Food is my passion - baking, cooking, developing recipes, making recipes healthier, using fresh seasonal produce and local products, keeping a check on my carbon footprint and being a responsible foodie! I enjoy food styling, food photography, recipe development and product reviews. I express this through my food photographs which I style and the recipes I blog. My strength lies in 'Doing Food From Scratch'; it must taste as good as it looks, and be healthy too. Baking in India, often my biggest challenge is the non-availability of baking ingredients, and this has now become a platform to get creative on. I enjoy cooking immensely as well.
