HOT HOUSE & A TAG! EGGCITING TIMES!

“Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she laid an asteroid.”
Mark Twain

“Did you get any comments on the Hot-house Mama?”, asked the boy Sunday morning. Ooooops! Red-faced, I confessed that I hadn’t posted it. It’s like both the kids want a piece of pie, & own a personal corner of my blog. That morning he hopped out of bed, barely had a glass of milk, & the doorbell began to ring. Off he raced to play soccer. Came back unrecognisable, covered in mud, because the park is full of dewy grass with winter around the corner … looked like a naughty pup, & was bundled off for a shower. Out he came, smelling sweet & asked for a fried egg for breakfast! There’s a yolk to this eggy saga…
Ever since the kids grew into semi-solids/solid food stage or the ‘fried eggs on toast, boiled eggs or an omelets stage’, I have religiously tried to offer them an egg for breakfast. They, of course, have stubbornly refused. The daughter went through an ‘I love omelet phase’ for a few months till she dumped the idea, though she’ll still have French toast once in a while. The son will not touch an egg; my genes I shamefully admit, coz neither will I. It’s been 8 LONG years … & then comes along ‘Trick TV’! Who said TV was bad.

The other day there was a trick with egg shells & disappearing kerchiefs. The boy begged for an egg shell. A cake was being made so he got his precious egg shell. In his clumsy excitement, by evening, the egg shell was history. He begged me for more, so mean ole me decided to test the waters. I told him he could have the shell if he had an egg for breakfast. My jaw almost dropped when he readily agreed, & there he was the next morning begging me for a fried egg. KIDS ???
Over the years I think I’ve collected as many egg recipes as the number of Roald Dahls the kids have collected! The eggy ideas have collected cobwebs in my brain. I dusted them off one such recipe. It said to cut a hole in a slice of bread, drop the egg into it…blah, blah, blah! I went for that. By the time, I turned the bread over, there was untold excitement & Roald Dahl was now visiting the kitchen counter. The boy was over the moon coz his beloved mother was making the egg out of Roald Dahl’s book. Unknowingly smart me? Didn’t know something like this existed in books! Hot House Egg was announced…I didn’t know that was what they called it in cooking parlance. See, TV ain’t that bad at all!! Here’s the recipe straight from the horses mouth…

I was recently tagged by Crazy Asian Gal, Palidor. Though I am petrified of tags & memes, I still crept into her blog in the cover of the night to check it out. Revelation…simple & fun. No tearing my soul apart for this, no skeletons tumbling out…YAY!! (Lesson learnt: Don’t jump to conclusions; be open minded)

I’ve got to list 7 random facts about myself. Here are the first 7 that come to my mind…
I’m quite a bunch of lazy bones when it comes to exercising.
My favourite colour is black.
I don’t have a sweet tooth despite all the baking I do.

Here are the rules for tagging: Link to my blog (tagger) on your blog. (Although, it doesn’t matter to me even if you don’t). Give 7 facts about yourself. Tag another 7 blogs by leaving a comment on their blog and letting them know they were tagged and listing them (and their blogs) on your blog.

I’m not a very keen meme person & tend to gasp if I hear I’ve been tagged…never easy to spill some beans on myself & kinda bare my soul to the world. Having said that, was tagged by Chreisi for a 6 word memoir & by Ivy for a 30 question meme…almost fainted!! 36 beans to spill on silly ole me….but these were fun memes!

Chreisi @ Almond Corner tagged me for a ‘6 Word Memoir’, where you describe yourself using only 6 words. Sorry Chreisi, I’m extremely sorry for being this long overdue, so with no further delay, shall try bare my soul a bit in 6 words, & then attempt to unravel some more in the next 30 questions…

TAGS, AWARDS & A TON OF THANKS!

“A photograph is like the recipe – a memory the finished dish. “
Carrie Latet
It’s been a while that I was tagged to do post my top 10 foodie photographs from my blog. When I first got the tag from Farida @ Azarbaijani Cookbook I was thrilled. This was something just me…’say it with pictures’. Tags in general remind me of my dear friend Manggy@ No Special Effects where he claims ‘all tags come to die’. This tag was special & challenging. Clicking away to glory is my next best therapeutic pleasure after cooking or baking, & I’m still trying to squeeze the life out of my old faithful camera. DH has been on my case to get a new one…until that comes along, here’s my pick for my top 10, being posted pronto because dear Rosie @ Rosie Bakes a Peace of Cake tagged me for the same. I’m embarrassed that I needed prodding to get my act together…sorry that I’m so late Farida, but IT WAS ALWAYS ON MY MIND!! Have been tagged again by Jamie @ Flavour Pantry for the same one last night, so I’d better HURRYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!

I’ve picked 10 of my random food pictures…& couldn’t resist posing my 2 fave non-foodie ones at the bottom.
Top 10 food pics……this tag consists of choosing 10 of your top food pics and in return tagging 5 people to choose 10 of their tops food pics.

In turn, I would like to tag…

…all accomplished foodies whose photographs I have marvelled at for long! Do stop by & take a peek into their blogs; they are a source of inspiration!! Sneaking in 2 non-foodie favourite snaps of mine!

The past days have seen more awards than I ever dreamt I could get, falling into my lap. Each of these make me feel very chuffed indeed, & I am absolutely honoured to be in this sort of ‘firing line’. Thanks to each one of you who thought I was worth it & picked me from the millions of fantastic foodies & bloggers out there. I need to pass these on before they grow roots sitting on my blog…I got this delicious one from Ranji @ Ranji’s Kitchen Corner, Kalai @ Samaithu Paarkalaam, Purnima @ Fantasy Cooking . Thanks a lot ladies for thinking of me.

The person who receives the award should display the “Yummy Blog !” logo on their blog and also the meaning…which is “Yummy blog award is the award given to the blog with most yummy recipes/photos“. The receiver should also quote their favorite yummy-licious 🙂 dessert(s) that they have ever prepared/eaten. Don’t restrict yourself to any dessert, chocolate bars also welcome. Also the receiver should pass on the award to four other bloggers whose blog they find “yummy” and let them know about the rules.
My fave yummilicious desserts on my blog would be…

Chocolate Orange Gateau
Mango Ice-cream Swiss Roll
Mango Ice-Cream

Panna Cotta Espresso

I would like to pass on this YUMMY award to the following delicious blogs:-

Phew, if you’re still here & reading, I got this next award, precious & ‘ever so cute’, from my dear friend Amy of Familia Bencomo…it’s the most cheerful & expressive one I’ve seen to date ! Would like to pass this one to these blogs which I love visiting as often as I can…

And finally, Amy tagged me for this one too….what a GREAT thought!! Thank you Amy. I’m passing this one on to…

Thank you for patiently being here, if you are still here that is! This has taken me the better half of today to complete & I have learnt my lesson…not to procrastinate!! HAVE A FAB DAY!!

Please wait...
