APPLE AND BLACK GRAPE BANDE AUX FRUITS…& BLOGGERAID
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”Martin Luther This fall, BloggerAid…Changing the Face of Famine, a dedicated group of food bloggers will make their mark on global hunger and kitchens around the world when they release “The BloggerAid Cookbook.” The proceeds from the sale of this cookbook will benefit Friends of WFP. It’s thanks to this beautiful, dedicated and hard-working group, and to Absolute Press, UK, one of the UK’s leading publishers of food and drink books, that I am fortunate enough to review ‘INDULGE – 100 Perfect Desserts’ by Claire Clark, as part of a fun event…

Coffee Chocolate Chip Pound Cake …and my basil gang!
“It is a true saying that a man must eat a peck of salt with his friend before he knows him.” Miguel de Cervantes New month. September is upon us already, and the days are galloping by. Sometimes the ultimate comfort food lies in the simplest of bakes. I love cakes for what they are, layers, frosted, filled with fruit, dripping with chocolate, more for putting them together rather than sitting back & enjoying a slice. All that changes when I make this pound cake. This is one I love for it’s taste, it’s texture & it’s crumb, not least for the ease of making it. I make this once…

Brown Sugar Plum Cakes … sweet summer dreams!
“What is more mortifying than to feel that you have missed the plum for want of courage to shake the tree?”Logan Pearsall Smith “Do you realize that we have had no dessert to eat for many days?”…a voice rang out from behind me as I walked to the kitchen. I pretended nonchalantly not to hear; didn’t even bat an eyelid! It was the boy speaking up. LOL….”Yes”, I said to myself silently, “I do, and was waiting for this to come, only it took a little longer than I expected.” I’ve treated them to a deluge of desserts this summer, celebrating the presence of stone fruits day in and day…

“I think the inner person is the most important. . . . I would like to see an invention that keeps the mind alert. That’s what is important.” Julia Child The release of Julie & Julia has led to a Julia Child wave among blogs, food blogs in particular. Elle’s New England Kitchen & Food Blogga featured some beautiful blog posts on the film. Do head for their blogs as Elle & Susan have some sweet sound bites on the film. The film’s official blog, Julie & Julia also is well worth a visit. The other day I saw a beautiful Cherry clafoutis that Val posted @ More Than Burnt…

Chocolate Genoise Cake with Mocha Mascarpone … cake nirvana
“All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much”George Harrison I don’t think it’s going to be easy going back to regular frosting or whipped cream again. This was my maiden attempt at making homemade mascarpone, & I cannot believe how luxurious cream can get. Bless the Italians. Panna Cotta has been on my faves as dessert for long enough; now along comes mascarpone! WOW!! I bought a local brand of mascarpone a while ago, used it with Balsamic Strawberries here, though the dessert was delicious, the mascarpone itself was very disappointing. My homemade one just ROCKED! I made the mascarpone for my dad’s birthday…

Chocolate Strawberry Cake and a tart that didn’t oblige!
“When your mother asks, “Do you want a piece of advice?” it is a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no. You’re going to get it anyway.”Erma Bombeck Happy Mother’s Day! To all you great Mum’s out there, this one’s for you. We blog, we bake, we hug, we love, we yell, we twitter, we sigh, we cry, we are divas, we are devils, we are pushed to the limit, we push others to the limit … we are MOTHERS!! How difficult to put us in one word, but HEY, someone did it, & called us ‘mother‘. Have a good day!! The kids made cards for…
