Chocolate Pavlovas with Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse & Preserved Stone Fruit
“To follow without halt, one aim; there is the secret of success. And success? What is it? I do not find it in the applause of the theater. It lies rather in the satisfaction of accomplishment.” Anna Pavlova The June 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Dawn of Doable and Delicious. Dawn challenged the Daring Bakers’ to make Chocolate Pavlovas and Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse. The challenge recipe is based on a recipe from the book Chocolate Epiphany by Francois Payard. It’s the Daring Bakers time of the month again, and I’ve just got it together in the nick of time. The challenge Dawn chose is primarily based on…

Caramel Cream Refrigerator Cakes with Roasted Strawberries … tiny delights!
“So many ideas, so much I want to do, so little time… But I love the feeling of being inspired…” Canelle Vanille on Twitter I love the lines above. Saw them on twitter a few days ago, and they stayed in my mind. I went back to look for them today as a quote that is truly reflective of my feelings too!! Aran expressed it beautifully! It’s now the end of the strawberry season here and I giggled with glee looking at my stash of strawberries I had lugged from my recent vacation. Sadly now with the mercury rising, they threaten to spoil very soon. If earlier I could safely…

Mini Manqué Pear Cakes with Black Grape Compote
“There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it is perfect to eat.”Ralph Waldo Emerson Yesterday was a day I needed to bake. The morning wasn’t kind to me. Got up and the computer screen was dead as dead can be. Woke up the daughter and she was rather rude for something trivial … very uncalled for!! Then she decided not to have the breakfast I made. I had about lost it, but DH stepped in, flashed a big smile, ate her breakfast…and told me to relax! So my pent up anger was redirected to the kitchen, and it was time to bake. Hit the kitchen…

Orange Patisserie Tartlets with Candied Tangerines … A Hand For Haiti
“We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.” Native American Proverb My days of orange seem neverending! Orange seems to be colouring my world with its refreshing colour and fragrance! I made these delectable little pastry tartlets a while ago when the tangerine season began. I had left over tangerines from making this fantastic Bitter Orange Marmalade, and the idea for the tartlets and candied tangerines was inspired by a post I saw at Helen’s @ Tartlette. The picture remained in my mind for long. Fortunately with left over tangerines on one particular day, I also had left-over egg yolks! From where? Where else? No prizes for guessing…

Roasted Plum Brown Sugar Cakes … delicious desserts!
“What is more mortifying than to feel that you have missed the plum for want of courage to shake the tree?”Logan Pearsall Smith T’was the day after Diwali, and the bazaars were finally nice and empty. The festive frenzy had ceased, & I could stroll at leisure. The fruit vendor came to me with a clutch of plums, firm, large & very tempting. While he tried to talk me into buying them, I could see Aran‘s beautiful Roasted Plum Muscavado Sugar Cakes in the back of my head. I didn’t need convincing at all! Came home bounding with renewed energy. Yes, indeed a bonanza to find some plums when fall…

APPLE AND BLACK GRAPE BANDE AUX FRUITS…& BLOGGERAID
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”Martin Luther This fall, BloggerAid…Changing the Face of Famine, a dedicated group of food bloggers will make their mark on global hunger and kitchens around the world when they release “The BloggerAid Cookbook.” The proceeds from the sale of this cookbook will benefit Friends of WFP. It’s thanks to this beautiful, dedicated and hard-working group, and to Absolute Press, UK, one of the UK’s leading publishers of food and drink books, that I am fortunate enough to review ‘INDULGE – 100 Perfect Desserts’ by Claire Clark, as part of a fun event…
