Booscotti … biscotti for Halloween
“Eat, drink and be scary” Author Unknown or Delicious every ‘witch’ way!! Biscotti is on my list of things to try often & it’s something I achieve regularly. The more variety, the merrier. Browsing TWD blogs last week landed me at Gretchen’s blog @ Canela & Camino, where she was playing host to the weeks’ Tuesdays With Dorie. I have now decided to blog hop & try recipes at my own pace rather than join up with more groups because it stresses me out. I find deadlines taking a bit of the fun away sometimes, in addition to the sugar overdose the family is getting. Also, sonny boy has got…

GLAZED PRUNE CAKE…SPICED UP FOR SHF!
“winter dusk the rhythm of her knife chopping fruit and nuts” Elizabeth St. Jacques I had a bag of prunes looking at me for ages. Sometime last week, when the weather began to change, getting cooler by the day, I was in a mood for experimenting on the baking front. Surfing the net gobbled up hours as usual, but gave me a match for a prune cake. I liked this recipe on Recipezaar & the reviews too, when I read them, though the glaze had me a bit sceptical. A milk glaze for heavens sake? Threw my thoughts to wild abandon, & plodded on with the cake. Turned out to…

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIES
“In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips.” Author Unknown I bake snacks for the kids 3-4 times a week. It takes care of their ‘tiffin’ or snack box, & caters for their snack when they come back home. Lunch is served in school, & the kids are usually ravenous when they get back around 3 in the afternoon. I endeavour to add variety from time to time ranging from banana chocolate-chip muffins, oatmeal cookies, pound cake, sandwiches, pasta, but often find myself reaching out for the cocoa. This was one such ‘cocoa moment’, where I put together a number of different recipes to make these cookies. The…

CHICKEN GYOZA…Pot stickers by another name!
“The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.”Arnold H. Glasgow It’s was one of those inspiring blog hops again, where another page had been added to the already bursting ‘to-make-soon’ folder. Dhhangit’s blog Easy French & Asian Recipes is a constant source of inspiration & has immense drool quotient. She churns out the yummiest of stuff, with pictures to entice. Most of the posts however are beyond me as she is leagues ahead, & sometimes, the level of difficulty is pretty high. Availability of ingredients is another story altogether. Luckily for me, she posted some delicious looking ‘Beef Gyozas‘ a…

Simple, Delicious Apple Crisp
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.” Martin Luther The minute I read Helene’s post on the crisp, I knew I had to make it. With the list of simple ingredients & apples sitting in the fruit bowl, it was baking in next to no time. A wonderful crisp, with a yummy filling, we really enjoyed it with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The perfect fall dessert, comforting & delicious. My love affair with fruits continue & I am forever envious of all the luscious berries that are being baked into crumbles & bars, cheesecakes & cupcakes. Seeing…
