Baking| APPLE & WALNUT BROWN BUTTER TARTLETS
“Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not!” Author Unknown Yay, it’s November! Really surprised how silently it snuck up on me, and am still wondering what happened to poor old October. It went Q U I C K, but I’m not complaining as I love November, not least because it’s my birthday month. It is possibly the best month of the year in North India, the onset of a beautiful winter, temperatures more like a European autumn as Pam said the other day. Our winters see new leaves sprouting, chrysanthemums, carnations, oodles of farm fresh vegetables & bright sunny days. We wake up to slightly nippy mornings, with…

PLUM & DRIED BLACK GRAPE FRANGIPANE CLAFOUTIS…INSPIRED BY TARTLETTE
“What is more mortifying than to feel that you have missed the plum for want of courage to shake the tree?”Logan Pearsall Smith Danced off Helen’s beautiful blog, Tartlette’s, the other day, in a dreamy trance. Two thoughts rang through my head. Helen’s hub B smashing the tops of the dreamy desserts, and an urgency to recreate the delightful dessert as soon as possible. Not the first time a fruit dessert has done this to me. Did it off Judy‘s blog, No Fear Entertaining when the peach season began and I instantly made Apricot Cherry Mini Crisps. Then again, off Ari’s blog, Baking and Books with Plums & Brown Sugar…

Chocolate Genoise Cake with Mocha Mascarpone … cake nirvana
“All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much”George Harrison I don’t think it’s going to be easy going back to regular frosting or whipped cream again. This was my maiden attempt at making homemade mascarpone, & I cannot believe how luxurious cream can get. Bless the Italians. Panna Cotta has been on my faves as dessert for long enough; now along comes mascarpone! WOW!! I bought a local brand of mascarpone a while ago, used it with Balsamic Strawberries here, though the dessert was delicious, the mascarpone itself was very disappointing. My homemade one just ROCKED! I made the mascarpone for my dad’s birthday…

Coffee Cake Muffins … addicted to food blogging!
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Albert Einstein Addicted to food blogs & blogging, that’s what I am! Try it & I’m sure you’ll have one happy family, happy in the foodie way anyway. They might whinge at the amount of time you spend on the net, but ‘up’ always comes with ‘down’, somewhat like yin-yang! I often strive to balance it, & bring in some sort of harmony! Foodie blogs are a-bursting with good food & good ideas. Never at a loss of ideas as to what to make, there are temptations that are doable some of the time; at other times, there’s plenty of eye candy. The good…

GRAB THE GLASSES…THE KEBABS ARE HERE!
Cuisine is the tactile connection we have to breathing history.History and culture offer us a vibrant living society that we taste through cuisine. All cuisine is a reflection of the society from which it emanates … in the end cuisine is the result of culture” Clifford Wright When it’s time for celebration, clink glasses or serve these kebabs in them!
