SPRING HAS COME & SPRING HAS GONE- but CLICK is here to stay!
“Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June.” Al Bernstein The Click duo, Jai & Bee have got a beautiful theme going this month, CLICK: April 2009. (Spring/Autumn), and as usual, I’m racing. This post is not a foodie post. It’s just a SPRING post, posted a little sadly, because Spring disappeared quite a while ago. Currently we are in a ‘mercury rising’ situation, where the highs are around 43C, & hot summer winds are sweeping the Northern Indian plains! Another degree & they’ll declare it a heat-wave!! Whatever… …the life & times of my carnations ~ Can you tell I’d been busy clicking when Spring was here?…

GETTING MY HERBS RIGHT WITH PASTA & CHICKEN
“A man’s nature runs either to herbs, or to weeds; therefore let him seasonably water the one, and destroy the other.”Francis Bacon, Sr. Do I know my herbs? Well I thought I did, & was basking in my limited glory until I saw Helen’s beautiful Thyme shortbread cookies @ Tartlette. Hmmmmm, I thought, how come my oregano looks like her thyme? I got the seeds a while ago, & my gardener planted them. He’d never seen these herbs & I’ve only seen dried ones that looked more like green tea most of the time! Helen wrote to me when I left her a quizzical comment. A few pictures exchanged, &…

Strawberry Curd Cheese Tartlets
“Scenes of strawberries, across crisp farmland.”Michael Easton It’s time for that ‘something sweet’ again, & I’m on a strawberry high. The market is quite flooded with strawberries, & I just can’t seem to get enough of this passionate berry. At the risk of flooding my blog with this fruit, I’m here once again with a strawberry something. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, but there’s plenty more strawberries in the pipeline! I’ve even begun freezing a couple of bags to use after the fresh ones disappear. Nic sent me a real yummy bag of Belgian White Chocolate Strawberries, which we really enjoyed eating. They were part of a virtual Indian…

Simple, Delicious Apple Crisp
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.” Martin Luther The minute I read Helene’s post on the crisp, I knew I had to make it. With the list of simple ingredients & apples sitting in the fruit bowl, it was baking in next to no time. A wonderful crisp, with a yummy filling, we really enjoyed it with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The perfect fall dessert, comforting & delicious. My love affair with fruits continue & I am forever envious of all the luscious berries that are being baked into crumbles & bars, cheesecakes & cupcakes. Seeing…

Honey I Messed the Castella …but it was still so good!!
“When you hear buzz around the beehive, you know they’re making honey in there.” Terrence Howard This week’s been bookmarked to post recipes I’ve bookmarked & gotten down to attempting. Strange how the best of plans fall flat on their face & all prior preparation flies out of the window. Had a free kind of free day…no hub, no kids, no laundry & no grocery…decided to bake a cake, The Honey Castella. I’ve been fascinated with it with ever since the very talented doctor-blogger-foodie-friend @ No Special Effects posted it. It’s the first one of Manggy’s that I’ve had the courage to try. Most of his drool worthy creations are…

MANGOLICIOUS MORNINGS with FRUITY BEGINNINGS!!
“Marriages are all happy; its having breakfast together that causes all the trouble.” Irish Proverb Mango Fruit Salad with Apricots, Melon, Cherries & basil It’s the month of May, & MANGO, the king of fruits, rules the roost here in India. As far as the eye can see, it’s mangoes all the way. In the midst of this, Arundati @Escapades is hosting this month’s Weekend Breakfast Blogging (WBB) #22; it’s has been aptly christened ‘May Mango Madness’. As she dramatically states, “Melting moments of May have turned up the heat a notch higher…WBB, the event started by the lovely doctor at Saffron trail, stops by at Escapades this month.” With…
