Delicious Strawberry Apple Crumble … a very easy heart friendly dessert!
One of my favourite fruit bakes ... A heart friendly dessert with complex carbs, delicious fruit and low calories. Use fruit of the season, stone and pip fruit work great here, throw in a handful of chopped dry fruit, almonds, pistachios, walnuts etc, then throw in some tart cherries, craisins, raisins if you like, add some fresh herbs like thyme for a nice Spring feel … and bake until the juices begin to enticingly ooze out. ENJOY!!

{Baking} Stone Fruit Almond Crumble … baking in the midst of rubble, and LOVING it!!
“Mind like a sieve these days and the attention span of a flea!!” Jeanne Horak @ Cooksister I love the quote above. Words from Jeanne @ CookSister in emails being exchanged a couple of days ago, much of it nonsensical light banter. It coined the way I felt, and I was absolutely taken in by the rhythm of the words! My foodie world has been thrown into disarray and I often feel at odds. It’s a world of rubble, heat and dust, the odd shower thrown in, which adds to humidity. There is SO MUCH on the mind, and the additional want to ‘blog & tweet‘ doesn’t help… The…

BALSAMIC & HERB LAMB CHOPS, FRENCH FOUGASSE…& PEACH & MIXED FRUIT CRUMBLES!
“Talk of joy: there may be things better than beef stew and baked potatoes and home-made bread – there may be.” David Grayson We had a good meal … it was yummy. I was in a mood to cook LOTS, & the lad joined in with his requests! At the meat shop yesterday, while I was trying to find direction in what to buy, he requested for lamb chops … “like you had made earlier Mama”, he said, “and the ‘French fries’ too!” Those refer to Greek Roasted Potatoes that I often make from Kalofagas. I sometimes do a variation on them … an addition of lots of garlic, &…

A CRUMBLE TO FALL FOR…a healthy Apple Crumble!
“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking successive autumns.” George Eliot Sugar & spice & ‘FALL’ things nice…that’s what I’m made up of! Cinnamon scrolls…adding flavour to the Crumble! A twist to the regular crumble to make it healthier. I have substituted the butter for margarine, and lightly toasted (or roasted) the oats to bring out the crunch and flavour. Apples, cinnamon & walnuts bring out quite the best in each other…as far as taste, colour and warmth go. The only thing missing are the twirling leaves when the south wind blows!! Guess we can…

With apples in season here…it’s time for ‘APPLE CRUMBLE’
“I know the look of an apple that is roasting and sizzling on the hearth on a winter’s evening, and I know the comfort that comes of eating it hot, along with some sugar and a drench of cream… I know how the nuts taken in conjunction with winter apples, cider, and doughnuts, make old people’s tales and old jokes sound fresh and crisp and enchanting.” Mark Twain APPLE CRUMBLEIngredients: Apples- 6-8 / 1 kg (crisp ones, a bit tart are ok)Juice of 1 lemon (increase if apples are sweet)Sugar (granular) – 2 TbspsRaisins – 1 handfulCinnamon – 1 tspWalnuts – ¼ Cup/ choppedToppingFlour – 1/3 cupSugar- 2 TbspsCinnamon –…

Strawberry Galette Recipe: Delicious Treats for Any Occasion
A quick, rustic and delicious eggless strawberry almond tart to celebrate the best strawberries. The pastry is butter, crisp, very forgiving and behaves well, the filling sweet like candy, and the almond meal helps keeps the pastry from getting soggy.
