Baking| STOLLEN PUDDING … a Daring Bakers Stollen in Bread Pudding
I stole the Stollen we made for Christmas with the Daring Bakers and baked it into a STOLLEN/BREAD PUDDING! Mmmm...just the perfect dessert for a cold wintry day, good to the last crust. Dried tart cherries, slivered almonds and a sifting of sugar dressed it up! Merry Christmas!

Garam Masala Fruit Cake … a twist to the traditional, my recipe from scratch!
A Christmas Fruit Cake with a twist. Have you ever added garam masala to your fruit cake? You really should try it. It doesn't add curry flavours to your cake, I promise. It adds deep warm winter flavours that mingle with the fruit ever so deliciously, you'll wonder what kept you away so long.

Baking | Toasted Walnut Linzer Cookies with Strawberry Filling … Holiday Baking Fun!
You must try these cookies! December is whirring by, now unstoppable. Twitter is 'atweet' with who’s baking what, food blogs are bursting with fabulous holiday baking ideas. I wish I had most of December left as there are so many delicious ideas, but I’m GLAD I made these cookies! They were l♥ved by the kids, prized apart, jam duly licked off, sugar too, and then the cookies enjoyed … gobbled up in seconds. I think the basic cookie is a great one too sans the jam filling, quite like a nutty crisp shortbread on its own.

Apple Cake … Dorie Greenspan’s winning recipe
Everything about Marie Helen's Apple Cake for Dorie Greenspans new book is wonderful & well balanced - the fruit, the texture, the sweetness, the lightness; above all the power to satisfy. The best dessert we've had in a while ... fresh baked, almost steaming hot, a cake which unbelievingly delivered perfect light as cloud slices. I added a scraped vanilla bean to the batter, and flaked almonds on top. It's a designated winner in my book; one which I will make over and over again.

Baking | Lebkuchen Cream & Genoise Verrines with Apple Craisin Compote
I love verrines for their appealing looks. Play around with layers if you like. The space within is your canvas. Lebkuchen flavoured cream whipped to soft peaks mingles gently with the vanilla genoise cake crumbs, moistening it as you allow it to stand in the fridge for a couple of hours. It permeates the layers and infuses the lebkuchen spice aroma right through. This is a light dessert, yet quite satisfying. Include a layer of compote between the crumb and cream layers too if you like. Verrines are a wonderful playground of colours and textures.

Baking | Chicken, Mushroom & Roasted Pepper Julienne … where French cuisine deliciously meets Russian Cuisine in India!
A luxurious creamy main course make-ahead dish. Chicken, mushrooms and roasted bell peppers held together by a dreamy rich sauce, topped with cheese & baked till done. Great for the festive season ... it's even got the colours! Adapt it to make a vegetarian version if you like!
