IT’S RAINING PIES HALLELUJAH…SIMPLE PUMPKIN & CREAM PATISSERIE
“Promises and pie-crust are made to be broken.”Jonathan Swift My love affair with pumpkin pie, all things pie continues. The first ever one I made was the Praline Pumpkin Pie from this stunning book Park Avenue Potluck CELEBRATIONS, a book published for cancer cure research & a celebration of food in every way. It’s a gorgeous book, with stunning photographs taken in stately NY homes, and is divided into seasonal menus. I found that quite a unique and novel idea. That pie was quite the best pie I’ve ever made, and so I decided to explore my love for pumpkin more. There are a lot of folk who don’t like…

PRALINE PUMPKIN PIE … FALLING FOR DESSERT!
“No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.” Laurie Colwin An exciting new cookbook, Park Avenue Potluck CELEBRATIONS is being published today. When Kelsey @ The Naptime Chef invited me for the virtual “dinner” party for the books’ publications, I was delighted, and said yes quickly. Kelsey and I had met earlier at Monica Bhide’s virtual dinner for Modern Spice, and we hope one day we meet in real time too. Park Avenue Potluck Celebrations is a beautiful user-friendly cookbook, and is once…

Simple, Delicious Apple Crisp
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.” Martin Luther The minute I read Helene’s post on the crisp, I knew I had to make it. With the list of simple ingredients & apples sitting in the fruit bowl, it was baking in next to no time. A wonderful crisp, with a yummy filling, we really enjoyed it with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The perfect fall dessert, comforting & delicious. My love affair with fruits continue & I am forever envious of all the luscious berries that are being baked into crumbles & bars, cheesecakes & cupcakes. Seeing…

TOMATO TART…An eventful tart!
“A world without tomatoes is like a string quartet without violins.”Laurie Colwin I had a Tomato Tart on my mind. Was it Tuesdays with Doris? Was it Mondays with Martha? It wasn’t Saturday Snapshots @ Cook Sisters as that’s a non-foodie post, it wasn’t the Friday snapshot at Dhanggits‘ as that is a sweet one. Was it the book Tuesdays with Dorie…or is it just old age approaching? Saw a pie I fell in love with the minute I set my eyes on it, but couldn’t find it in my bursting bookmarked folder. It was a tomato tart & a lovely one…one without eggs in the filling & it sang…

I SPY A PIE…IT’S SAVOURY & IT’S FOR IVY!
“Men may come and men may go…..but Pie goes on for ever.” George Augustus Sala All savoury pie roads lead to Ivy’s @ Kopiaste this September. There’s a savoury pie food event at the Greek gals place & it’s been on my mind the whole month. With the weather getting cooler here, pie times are beckoning. Have a few bookmarked pies on my list, but with September quickly disappearing before my eyes, I’d better send these little rustic savoury galettes Ivy’s way. Made mini galettes with left-over home-made pizza dough from here. I flavoured the basic pizza dough with chili flakes, Italian seasoning & garlic powder (loads of it). Got…

ADDICTED TO FOOD BLOGGA’S ADDICTION…A BEAUTIFUL PEACH & PLUM GALETTE!
“We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink…” Epicurus Galette a la Plums & Peaches! If someone said to me that they made a galette, I would just nod & get on my way, maybe wouldn’t even bat an eyelid! Never heard of something like that before (seriously I haven’t, even if that means you think I live under a rock!). Now if someone showed me a picture of a galette they baked, & if that someone had the word addiction in the blog post, & if that someone was the ever so talented Food Blogga gal, it would grab…
