Baking| Fresh Fig & Frangipane Buckwheat Tartlets
“If the divine creator has taken pains to give us delicious and exquisite things to eat, the least we can do is prepare them well and serve them with ceremony.” Ferdinand Point Fruit in baking continue to hold my interest. I knew I had to get some fresh figs back from our visit to Pune as we don’t ever find them here in North India. Bought some from a roadside stall while driving down from Mahabaleshwar, and the old lady gave me MANY instructions to protect this luscious fruit after she asked me where I was from. Figs must be allowed to ripen fully on the tree before they are…

Orange Patisserie Tartlets with Candied Tangerines … A Hand For Haiti
“We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.” Native American Proverb My days of orange seem neverending! Orange seems to be colouring my world with its refreshing colour and fragrance! I made these delectable little pastry tartlets a while ago when the tangerine season began. I had left over tangerines from making this fantastic Bitter Orange Marmalade, and the idea for the tartlets and candied tangerines was inspired by a post I saw at Helen’s @ Tartlette. The picture remained in my mind for long. Fortunately with left over tangerines on one particular day, I also had left-over egg yolks! From where? Where else? No prizes for guessing…

MINI PEACH, CHERRY & BLUEBERRY GALETTES with almonds -Little bites!
“Yield to temptation — it may not pass your way again” Lazarus Long Do you get hypnotized by certain posts. I’m afraid I’m afflicted by this strange phenomena, but I love it. And it kicks in whenever I see a post with galettes, the sweet ones, full of fruit. I find galettes to be very ‘free spirited’….…in the sense that they don’t need to conform to boundaries, something that is reflective of my inherent nature. I like my freedom, I like rustic & moreish appeal, so I like galettes. Inspiration continues to come from unexpected sources. Been twittering with Edna’s Cafe for really long, & so one fine day decided…

Strawberry Curd Cheese Tartlets
“Scenes of strawberries, across crisp farmland.”Michael Easton It’s time for that ‘something sweet’ again, & I’m on a strawberry high. The market is quite flooded with strawberries, & I just can’t seem to get enough of this passionate berry. At the risk of flooding my blog with this fruit, I’m here once again with a strawberry something. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, but there’s plenty more strawberries in the pipeline! I’ve even begun freezing a couple of bags to use after the fresh ones disappear. Nic sent me a real yummy bag of Belgian White Chocolate Strawberries, which we really enjoyed eating. They were part of a virtual Indian…

All dressed up for the party… it’s the BIG 1 !! The head was dizzy with a heady mix of poppet, party & France.
