Delicious Strawberry Apple Crumble … a very easy heart friendly dessert!
One of my favourite fruit bakes ... A heart friendly dessert with complex carbs, delicious fruit and low calories. Use fruit of the season, stone and pip fruit work great here, throw in a handful of chopped dry fruit, almonds, pistachios, walnuts etc, then throw in some tart cherries, craisins, raisins if you like, add some fresh herbs like thyme for a nice Spring feel … and bake until the juices begin to enticingly ooze out. ENJOY!!

Baking| Whole Wheat & Oat Chocolate Chip Cookies … better late than never!
Chocolate chip cookies for a healthier 2011! I have always included some whole wheat by default, but was taken aback to see that using whole grains alone, whole wheat and rolled oats, still gave them a fabulous texture, and handsome bite.

Baking | Toasted Walnut Linzer Cookies with Strawberry Filling … Holiday Baking Fun!
You must try these cookies! December is whirring by, now unstoppable. Twitter is 'atweet' with who’s baking what, food blogs are bursting with fabulous holiday baking ideas. I wish I had most of December left as there are so many delicious ideas, but I’m GLAD I made these cookies! They were l♥ved by the kids, prized apart, jam duly licked off, sugar too, and then the cookies enjoyed … gobbled up in seconds. I think the basic cookie is a great one too sans the jam filling, quite like a nutty crisp shortbread on its own.

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.” Louisa May Alcott It’s the time of the year again that makes me walk towards the oven in a hypnotic trance and want to bake all day long. Its warming and comforting to have the oven on, to fill the house with warm flavours that give you joy. The nip in the air, the apples flooding the market, the big yellow {& green} pumpkins all beckon you. Even though the pumpkin sits there all the year…

Baking | ORANGE & OAT SCONES … Dial 101 FOR Scones
“Ooh, with a little luck — December will be magic again.” Kate Bush There’s something about scones. Quintessential, charming & endlessly enjoyable. A classic holiday platter ‘cookie’ of sorts that brings cheer to the table. I saw the recipe on my google reader a while ago & it was instantly love at first sight. What’s not to love about orange and oats in a scone? I made them recently, on my return from the FBC09, twice in fact, and both times they disappeared rather quickly. One lot was with pistachio nuts & craisins with a demerera sugar topping, and the other a walnut & craisin batch with a vanilla sugar…
