BLUEBERRY OAT WALNUT GRANOLA BARS…Yummy mouthful!
“With all that together, you’ve got a snack with lots of fiber, vitamins and protein.”Emily Walker A friend of mine was flying down from the UK in December ’08 & she asked if I wanted anything from there. Me? Yes, of course! I never let a good offer go by & asked her to ‘please’ get me some dried cranberries, blueberries etc. Don’t know if she’ll ask me again in a hurry, but she got me lots of bags of dehydrated blueberries, dried cherries & a couple of beautiful baking books too. One thing I do miss not getting here are fresh berries, & the only local dried ‘berries’ we…

BLONDIES OVER BROWNIES? YES! GIVE THESE A CHANCE!!
“The only think I like better than talking about Food is eating.”John Walters I bookmarked an interesting blondie or ‘brown sugar brownies’ recipe the other day. The source was the ever impressive Epicurean Escapism…she’s got a virtual treasure on her blog & never ceases to amaze me with her new posts. These got me the minute I saw them…for 2 reasons. First because they didn’t have a chocolate overdose, which is good for a change; & secondly because they used oil instead of butter. Got down to making them pretty soon, & was very impressed with the result. My only change was adding chopped walnuts because I love nuts. &…

CHOCOLATE FUDGE & SPICY NUTS…TRYING TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS !!
“Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything,That’s how the light gets in.” Leonard Cohen It’s Diwali, the Indian ‘Festival of Lights’, & I’m racing against time. Don’t know how Nigella does it; I mean, how does she get her act together! Every time I try a calm, glam & unperturbed attempt at Nigella’s recipes, ‘Express’ or otherwise, pandemonium is the only memory I’m left with. Nigella Lawson’s fudge is quite a winner; I’ve made the pistachio chocolate fudge earlier, & decided to make the walnut variant for Diwali. There’s a virtual flood of Indian sweets at home, so I always…

MOCHA CHOCOLATE MORSEL COOKIES…& A MUSIC MEME
“In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips” Unknown I guess one can never have enough of chocolate chip cookies. These ones above are our current favourite…crisp, chocolaty & nutty too, with just the right hint of mocha. I scribbled the recipe down from the back of a box or chocolate chips packet ages ago. The chip cookies I’ve posted earlier were sans cocoa. These ones are more indulgent; quite a treat & disappear very fast…so watch out. Like most cookie recipes, this one is versatile too. Skip the cocoa if you want pure unadulterated chocolate pleasure, skip the nuts if you ain’t a nutty person. I have…

“Any food not fit to wear is not fit to eat.”Jim Rosenthal ‘Better Cake than Cream Brownies’…Chocolate Overdose Diva @ Sugar Bar is hosting this intriguing event “Beauty & the Feast”. The challenge is to pick a cosmetic/beauty/body-hand-skincare,etc. product that has either a name that is food-related or has food-related ingredients. Use the combination of flavours of the product as best as you can& give it any funky name you like. I picked Cocoa Butter Body Butter…a Body Shop product which is full of ‘brownies in another form’!! MOCHA WALNUT CHOC-CHIP MUFFINS…GREEDY GOODNESS!!
“I believe the world to be a muffin pan, and there certainly are a lot of muffins here.” Aaron Funk Mocha Walnut Chocolate-chip Muffins… When I read about theSnackshots #3 event hosted by Michelle @ Greedy Gourmet , I was thrilled. Opportunity to try these mocha muffins I had bookmarked long ago, & soon. Michelle asks “What’s the difference between a muffin and cupcake? …A muffin contains less sugar and doesn’t have icing on top, in other words it’s healthier. ” My choice of muffin is deep, dark, decadent & chocolaty; the flavours enhanced with the addition of coffee. Am still trying to place the source on the net; I…
