Baking| Apricot & Plum Cobbler … the Secret Recipe Club & a guest post
“You see things and you say ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and I say ‘Why not?’” George Bernard Shaw It’s July with the Secret Recipe Club and the inspiration behind this great idea continues. This month I was assigned to secretly invade Kims blog @ Everyday Mom. Kim has a delicious blog and for an everyday Mom {read 24 X 7} like me, it was an instant connect.I loved reading her posts, seeing how she involves her sweet kids in the kitchen, looking into her CSA box, seeing how she uses what turns up including these beautiful garlic scapes. That was what I intended to make for…

Baking| Peach, Plum & Apricot Streusel Crumble … Fine Cooking In Season
I do love this season. The colours, the flavours, the charm of stone fruit ... always like a dream. The crumble was addictive and difficult to keep away from. Sweetly tart and full of soul ... if you know what I mean. Add to it a nutty walnut streusel topping, crisp and delicious and you know this was meant to be.

{Baking} VERLET’S APRICOT TART … with peaches & cherries too
“Do something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.” Julia Child My first introduction to Julia Child came in Feb 2008 via the Daring Bakers challenge of her French Loaf, when I conquered my fear of yeast. Then last year, the film Julie & Julia ignited my love for French pastry, and in many way, most things French. The film won my heart for everything it offered – food, blogging, Paris, cookbooks; more so because I’m a huge fan of Meryl Streep. From my point of view, which might well be wrong, if it wasn’t for all that butter that makes French food as delicious as it is,…

APRICOT CHERRY MINI CRISPS…there’s joy in blogging!
“You’ve got to go out on a limb sometimes because that’s where the fruit is.” Will Rogers Summer’s here in full swing, & we’re slowly seeing the market getting flooded with ‘stone fruits’. It began with mangoes, then cherries, & now it’s apricots. Peaches are beginning to surface as well, but haven’t reached the ‘fully ripe’ & ‘lusciously juicy’ stage yet. This is what I love about summer in North India … all the fruit from the fruit basket in the Himalayas that reach the plains in much abundance. Very yummy situation indeed … It’s one of those rare days that I bake, & then try & blog about it…

APRICOT CHUTNEY…A RELISH TO RELISH!
“I am giddy, expectation whirls me round. The imaginary relish is so sweet That it enchants my sense.”William Shakespeare This chutney is LONG overdue. On my last chutney post, way back in May, my sweet Greek friend Ivy @ Kopiaste had asked for a fruit chutney. With that in mind, I bought some dried Turkish Apricots to make a fruit chutney for her; then life took off in some other direction. The poor apricots sat silently in the corner of my cupboard lost in oblivion. I tripped across the poor mites day before, & put making this chutney on priority. At that time, Ivy said of my green chutney…”This sounds lovely.…

ROASTING APRICOTS FOR A SORBET…
“I doubt whether the world holds for anyone a more soul-stirring surprise than the first adventure with ice cream. “ Heywood Broun Here’s a short & sweet post…great roasted flavours, that I made ages ago. Picasa has been misbehaving & lots of my files seem to have become inaccessible with a .ini file type. Naughty & bad Picasa! I can see the pictures in the folder, but when I try to open the folder, it says nothing to view. I have a few pictures of this beautiful roasted apricot sorbet which I had elsewhere, so I’d better get it on my blog before I lose these precious few pictures too!…
