Chocolate Vanilla Swiss Swirl Ice Cream Cake … of ice creams & beautiful desserts
“It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; It is because we do not dare that they are difficult.” Seneca The July 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Sunita of Sunita’s world – life and food. Sunita challenged everyone to make an ice-cream filled Swiss roll that’s then used to make a bombe with hot fudge. Her recipe is based on an ice cream cake recipe from Taste of Home. This was a challenge I wasn’t going to do because it had way too many steps for me as my kitchen was going to be under ‘attack’ beginning the month of July. Then again, fate…

STRAWBERRY MASCARPONE EGGLESS ICE-CREAM & A CSN STORES GIVEAWAY!
I had always thought that once you grew up you could do anything you wanted — stay up all night or eat ice-cream straight out of the container. Bill Bryson I was delighted to hear from Sean for CSN Stores the other day asking if I’d like to do a home decor or kitchen accessories giveaway for readers of Passionate About Baking from the US and Canada. YES PLEASE!! I could choose something from counter stools or cookware from any of the CSN Stores. Of course I had to choose something form the ‘cookware‘! This giveaway offers me an opportunity to thank you for stopping by, and for taking the…

SPRING MACARONS with FRUITY FROZEN YOGURT FILLING…Mac Attack 5
Love your macarons Delicious treat but really It’s a foot fetish. Haiku in comments @ Leave Room For Dessert It’s time for Mac Attack 5 at our other blog Mac Tweets, and for me the roller coaster ride was on once again. It’s time to find those evasive feet and this time the feet fairy abandoned me good and propah! I’ve had a maniacal time dealing with the lows of macaron-mania, and I have to say it’s not been easy… yet I battled on. I’ve experimented with oven temperatures, double baking sheets, nut meal, almond meal, different parchment paper, varied piping bags … Spring is the most inspirational season of…

Strawberry & Cape Gooseberry Pink Peppercorn Fro Yo … Here’s Spring!
“Oh, they’s so fresh an’ fine, an’ they’s jus’ off the vine. Straw-ber-ry! Staw-ber-ry!” Porgy and Bess Yesterday was the first day of Spring in North India, ‘Basant’ as it’s locally called. It makes the end of winter here and is celebrated with the festival of colour, Holi. It’s quite surprising to see that year after year the Hindu calendar marks a different date for Holi, and this is always the first day of Spring. The weather magically changes, and the date is never wrong! It always marks the last day of winter, of warm clothes, and dispels the need for that warm, comforting bowl of soup. There’s Spring in…

DARK CHOCOLATE ICE-CREAM…for days when life hands you yolks!!
“O when the yolks, come marchin’ in, O when the yolks come marching in, There’s gonna be dessert tomorrow, O when the yolks come marchin’ in…” These are pretty happy days for the family. Desserts of every kind entice them, and footfalls from the mac attack seem to be never ending! Faux tiramisu, mango mascarpone budini, basil sandwich cookies, flat pathetic macs … the sweet run continues. The last day of mac frenzy left me with something I didn’t particularly relish the thought of … egg yolks , and 6 of them! I’m pretty much an egg yolk hater. I’ve confessed this several times, yet have passion to bake. Eggs…

ROASTED PEACH & PLUM FRO YO…Stone fruit again!
“I had always thought that once you grew up you could do anything you wanted; stay up all night or eat ice-cream straight out of the container.”Bill Bryson I think this might just be the last batch of peaches now, & sadly so, though I still don’t want to say goodbye to this beautiful fruit. The first batch of the season went into these Peach & Mixed Fruit Crisps that I made here inspired by Judy’s @ No Fear Entertaining. That just set me up for a wonderful peach season that I haven’t been able to get enough of. With this versatile fruit, I’ve made peach-rosemary jam, galettes, birthday cakes,…
