SIMPLE DRESS-UPS FOR HALLOWEEN…TREATS & A ‘THANK YOU’!
“Bring forth the raisins and the nuts Tonight All-Hallows’ Specter struts Along the moonlit way.” John Kendrick Bangs This is just a quick post, more pictures, few words…& recipes to follow, or maybe a link if you want to fall-o! BOO…where did the months go? It’s almost the end of the year, & I’m racing against time. We don’t celebrate Halloween here in India, though I like the fun kids in the US have dressing up etc. Also love the way the houses & porches are done up. Halloween is special for us every year since my niece’s birthday falls just a day before, October 30th! This year she turns…

A BLOG EVENT, ORGAN DONATION, A WINNER & A PRIZE…HAPPY DAYS!!
“Don’t think of organ donations as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive. It’s really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive.” Author Unknown Guess what arrived in the mail yesterday? Imagine my utter horror when the bell rang & by the time I got to opening the front door, I heard a mild thud & caught sight of a package hitting the ground. My heart missed a beat…the postman had just chucked this parcel over the gate & gone away. One look & I knew what it was. Bubble wrap saved the day!!Back in August, Giz &…

TIME TO PASS IT ON…an excellent award!
“Friendships develop over food and wine” Prince Nicholas Romanoff I made this cake once again yesterday…really enjoyed doing it. The basic cake is an orange flavoured sponge from a book by Sue Ross. It’s sandwiched with an almond whipped cream & topped with a dark chocolate ganache…really excellent. I made the one below using this recipe for the first time… A Chocolate Orange Gateau. You can find the recipe HERE. The word excellent has reminded me of some urgent & overdue stuff to be done. I have received this lovely award three times; once each from Susan @ Food Blogga, Joy @ Joy the Baker & from Andrew @ New…

“Money is the root of all evil, and yet it is such a useful root that we cannot get on without it any more than we can without potatoes.” Louisa May Alcott OVEN-BAKED FRIES…SPUDS-WE-LIKE!! While visiting London in the late 80’s & early 90’s, we would often stop by at a quaint little potato joint called Spuds-U-Like. Spud is a slang for potato. On a cold winter evening, nothing seemed better than a hot potato, baked to perfection (or so it appeared to our hungry selves), with topping choices galore & creamy to the hilt. We (me & my bunch of friends) would stare at the potato in awe…never had…

IS IT A BAR, IS IT A COOKIE? Guess what…It’s a BAR COOKIE!
“In the nut, nothing is lost, except perhaps the noise it makes when breaking.” World Wide Walnut Pistachio, Cranberries & Golden Raisin Bars Was flipping pages of one of my favourite cookie books, ‘The Colossal Cookie Cookbook’, wondering what snack to make for the kids snack box for school. Thought I’d quickly do a batch of brownies, got the tin ready, lined it etc, & then had a change of heart. Wanted something other than chocolate…I like introducing them to as many flavours as possible, when they are still willing. Found something I liked the sound of… ‘Cranberry & Golden Raisin Bars’ hmmmmmmm. Passed a handful of golden raisins to…

IS THIS A CAKE…OR ARE THESE BROWNIES? Well, actually both! A ‘Brownie Cake’ in a basket. Chocolate-walnut brownies baked in a cake tin, and drizzled with chocolate; makes a nice gift from home. Posted by Deeba @ PAB
