BAKING

TIME TO PASS IT ON…an excellent award!

IMG 8106 I made this cake once again yesterday…really enjoyed doing it. The basic cake is an orange flavoured sponge from a book by Sue Ross. It’s sandwiched with an almond whipped cream & topped with a dark chocolate ganache…really excellent. I made the one below using this recipe for the first time… A Chocolate Orange Gateau. You can find the recipe HERE.

The word excellent has reminded me of some urgent & overdue stuff to be done. I have received this lovely award three times; once each from Susan @ Food Blogga, Joy @ Joy the Baker & from Andrew @ New Cook…THANK YOU to all of you; each time I receive it makes me feel even more special. It’s time to pass this treasured award on to 10 blogs of my choice in no particular order. A tough choice with the blogosphere packed with excellence all over…
  • Suganya @ Tasty Palettes…she leaves me in awe with total perfection in every post. Mind-blowing pictures with clarity beyond belief…‘CHECK IT OUT’!!
  • Amy @ Familia Bencomo…she’s making chicken tikka while I’m trying her devilish marinade. We’re egging each other on, while the families on either side are having a rollicking good time. Isn’t that excellent!!
  • Nags @ For the Cook in Me…her blogs had an excellent make-over; she’s clicking beautifully & I think it’s because she’s gonna tie the knot soon! Something excellent stirring in there…
  • Manggy @ No Special Effects…a doc who’s a chef, & an excellent one at that! Check him out!! Don’t get misled by ‘no special effects’; I’d rename it as ‘Only Special Effects’!!!
  • Mike @ Mike’s Table…from seductive strawberries to home-made mango ice-cream to die for; he’s rocking the blogosphere!
  • Marie @ Proud Italian Cook…we shared serendipity (thanks to Amy). Her blog’s home to Italian cuisine which never fails to impress.
  • Ann @ Redacted Recipes…reflecting an eclectic mix of a Brit & American in Brooklyn, Ann’s blog has plenty of surprises with blasts from the past too. Cake with oats? Got ya thinking, didn’t I?
  • Arundhati @ Escapades…if you want to escape the mundane world, get to Arundhati’s. I’ve got to try her Star Anise ice-cream which has haunted me for a while, & then she posted some great mango pickle. I hope to catch up one day, unless she’s gallant enough to mail me a jar (hint, hint)!!
  • Miri @ Peppermill…if she’s not roasting the peppers & serving them with applomb, she’s churning out tales from days gone by. Connecting food to memories of childhood summers…that’s Miri!!
  • Amanda @ I Love to Eat…love pancakes? Brownies in many avatars? Mandy’s busy at work at school *sigh*, does an excellent job on her blog too *jump for joy* & has an infectious level of excitement…YAY!!

About me: I am a freelance food writer, recipe developer and photographer. Food is my passion - baking, cooking, developing recipes, making recipes healthier, using fresh seasonal produce and local products, keeping a check on my carbon footprint and being a responsible foodie! I enjoy food styling, food photography, recipe development and product reviews. I express this through my food photographs which I style and the recipes I blog. My strength lies in 'Doing Food From Scratch'; it must taste as good as it looks, and be healthy too. Baking in India, often my biggest challenge is the non-availability of baking ingredients, and this has now become a platform to get creative on. I enjoy cooking immensely as well.

And as for the cake, it sounds delicious and looks beautiful in everyway–the care put into the frosting, the chocolate leaves–I’m really impressed!

As I’m still in my bathrobe & pajamas, I’m thinking that I’m grossly under-dressed to accept this award… So, imagine that I’m jeweled in Cartier with vintage Oscar de la Renta. My goodness, THANK YOU, Deeba! I am honored & humbled by this award. You have quite an excellent group of bloggers listed & I will do my best to live up to your & their level of excellence.

    Tanti baci, my friend,
    Amy
