ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN…MAKE WAY FOR DINNER ROLLS!
“Bread, milk and butter are of venerable antiquity. They taste of the morning of the world.” Leigh Hunt Knotted All Over…for dinner! I’ve had dinner rolls on my mind for a while with the Chuck Berry song that hums in the background. Yeastophobia being a thing of the past, I’m gingerly inching my way forward to make things I dreamt about for long. The last time I bought dinner rolls was the last time I bought them. They were so ‘not real’…nothing to them. So I got on & read a few baking books about shaping & knotting breads…what fun! Dreaming of Garlicky Dinner Rolls… Then came the time for…

LIME YOGURT PANNA COTTA…GUILT-FREE INDULGENCE!
“It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” Laura Ingalls Wilder Yogurt Panna Cotta…the healthier Option! My love for panna cotta knows no bounds. This is one versatile dessert & absolutely sublime. The regular panna cotta is indulgent, creamy & quite the best thing that happened to my list of desserts recently. You can find my previous panna cotta posts here (Coffee) & here (Strawberry). Who can resist a panna cotta…& with a fruity, tangy lime sauce? YUM!! Nutmeg flavouring the sauce… This time I made it healthier too…by substituting a part of the cream with yogurt. It’s adapted from a recipe I…

FRESH, LIGHT & ‘AU NATUREL’…BASKETS A LA MELON!
“Give me book, fruit, French wine, and fine weather and a little music out of doors played by someone I do not know.” John Keats Basket a la Melons!! Spring is in the air! To my delight, this month’s CLICK at Jugalbandi‘s is ‘Au Naturel’. This is my entry for one of the most inspiring foodie ‘visual’ events. It’s an eye-opener to creative photography! Doing away with decadence, though very temporarily, it’s Spring in the air. Melons are beginning to show up here. These pretty yellow fruits are probably called cantaloupes, casabas or melons overseas, but are called ‘sarda‘ locally. Till last year, they were imported from Afghanistan & were…

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’ “ Robin Williams Gimme a layered cake to make & I’m in 7th heaven! As you can obviously guess from my blog posts, I love baking cakes. I have Morven @ Food Art & Random Thoughts to thank for posting such a wonderful challenge..Dorie Greenspan’s ‘Perfect Party Cake’. After my first 2 challenges I was pretty much on shaky grounds (what with LMPs & French loaves), I must admit I procrastinated even going to check on March’s challenge! Crumbs…by the time I checked, had already begun work on our anniversary cake (Chocolate Orange Cloud Gateau; nice one) so felt like kicking myself!…

GRILLED COTTAGE CHEESE…LIVESTRONG!
“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.” Unknown Quotes Grilled Cottage Cheese…for LiveSTRONG Day 2008 This is a really healthy & delicious dish marinated in an olive oil dressing, & then grilled to yummy heights…served with a salad on the side. Makes for an appetizing first course, or even for a main course with a soup & freshly baked bread. It’s kid friendly too…& wholesome all the way. The original recipe was possibly with halloumi , a cheese indigenous to Cyprus. I have been making this with cottage cheese for ages…

MARCHing on to SUGAR HIGH FRIDAYS…SWEET GIFT BROWNIES!
“A gift consists not in what is done or given, but in the intention of the giver or doer.” Seneca A gift of love…Brownies in a box! This is a box of brownies that I baked for a dear old lady who lives nearby. She is about 78 years old & makes sure she stops by to say ‘Good Morning’ to me at the childrens‘ bus stop every single morning! Two days without a meeting, & she comes by our place to catch up with me! She is a warm, wonderful person, so positive & so full of life, that one wonders why we crib about silly little things! Always…
