CHURROS…GOING SPANISH ON DOUGHNUTS & A BOOK REVIEW.
“Food is so primal, so essential a part of our lives, often the mere sharing of recipes with strangers turns them into good friends. “ Jasmine Heiler I met Gloria Chadwick through Val’s blog & it was a matter of time before we hit it off. We had San Antonio in common…she lives there, & we visited it on vacation some time back. We got talking food (what else) & I discovered she’s a food book writer, & has published a number of books. Inspirational enough for me, because I dream of publishing a book one day. Was delighted when she asked me if I would like to review her…

Chocolate Chip Cookies … with oats, dried cherries & walnuts
“Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap.” Robert Fulghum And here’s yet another Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe to add to the millions doing the rounds in blogosphere. I guess you can’t have enough of CCCs, & this recipe was born in an attempt to make a bookmarked recipe off Helene’s blog @ La cuisine d’Hélène – Recettes. CHOCOLATE FUDGE & SPICY NUTS…TRYING TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS !!
“Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything,That’s how the light gets in.” Leonard Cohen It’s Diwali, the Indian ‘Festival of Lights’, & I’m racing against time. Don’t know how Nigella does it; I mean, how does she get her act together! Every time I try a calm, glam & unperturbed attempt at Nigella’s recipes, ‘Express’ or otherwise, pandemonium is the only memory I’m left with. Nigella Lawson’s fudge is quite a winner; I’ve made the pistachio chocolate fudge earlier, & decided to make the walnut variant for Diwali. There’s a virtual flood of Indian sweets at home, so I always…

BEIGNETS & DONUTS… DELICIOUS FRIED PASTRY
“Anyhow, the hole in the doughnut is at least digestible.” H.L. Mencken YAY for beignets… Was clearing cupboards day-before & found a Krispy Creme donut cap which the kids had picked up in Dallas last year when we were on vacation. The memories of row upon row of delicious looking fresh donuts sailing in front of us suddenly came alive. The freshness of the donuts just off from the conveyor, the warmth & the entire experience was scrumptious. Got to Ruth’s bookmarked round-up & saw Dhhangit’s French Beignets (pronounced ben-yay) posted there with pictures. Providence…something was telling me it was time to make donuts; I’d never heard of beignets before! Recipe…

A fruit means more than just a chomp now; it eggs me on to try & widen my horizons! …am still on a fruit trail Cherries have all but disappeared from the market; they show up for a very short period in summer. Peaches, plums & mangoes still rule the roost, with mangoes creating a sort of flood. I’m in…
