The result is something sweet!’ ~ Unknown~ Flew in from Sydney a day before my Mom’s birthday, which falls on the 24th of November, with a sick child on hand so no hope for cake. But the daughter made a miraculous recovery on home ground & all her hunger pangs were back in full force. Past doctor visits, blood tests & test results the next morning, she was declared clear to return to normal food…so the 2 of us raced home to bake…

Chocolate Espresso gateau … my kind of indulgence
“I never entertain wicked thoughts…Wicked thoughts entertain me.” Anonymous ‘Twas my parents anniversary a week ago & being the designated baker there was little choice but to bake a cake. The eleventh hour plunged me into guilt, & I had an hour & a half before fetching the kids from the bus-stop after school. The easiest was going to be a Swiss roll. The recipe firmly ingrained in my memory…3 eggs, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar…I hit the kitchen…

Indian Flatbread / Chapati Wraps with Turkish kebabs … WRAPPING IT UP…
“Blues is to jazz what yeast is to bread. Without it, it’s flat.” Carmen McRae, Jazz vocalist and pianist Indian Flatbread … Chapati / Roti Wrapping it up…fresh, healthy & fun! Here’s what I did with part of the Turkish Adana Kebabs I made a few days ago. I made Indian unleavened flatbreads, chapati or roti, & made wraps using the kebabs as the filling, with bell peppers, onions, a Yogurt dip & a new discovery…Pomegranate Molasses. Served it with a Mexican corn salad on the side. I find unleavened flatbreads very healthy & versatile. They are made out of whole wheat flour dough only, which just has to be kneaded…
