Chicken Shami Kebabs … patties from the past!
“What is patriotism but the love of the food one ate as a child?” Lin Yutang Here’s a change from cakes, cookies and desserts. An Indian savoury dish I experimented with a few weeks ago. Got it pretty right! Shami kebabs, as they are referred to in the Indian subcontinent, make for great cocktail snacks if you make small bite sized patties, and wonderful evening snacks served with lime, sliced onions and a green chutney. Serve them as main course, and you got a quick, delicious meal on the go. I often serve them with parathas with a tossed sliced onion, lime and green chili salad on the side, or…

INSPIRED GREEN CHUTNEY CHICKEN…
“The smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls, ready to remind us….” Marcel Proust I ran a fun giveaway for CSN Stores a short while ago and on offer was a Delonghi Grill or a CuisineArt Ice Cream Maker. The other day Jess from the CSN Promo Team wrote in to say they selected me as a CSN Preferred Blogger. What that meant was another chance to either review a product or give one away to readers of Passionate About Baking from their store Just Vanities or any of their other 200+online stores. I chose to host the giveaway, and you choose how you would…

INDIAN CHICKEN CURRY IN A HURRY … a recipe from Miss Masala!
“No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.” Laurie Colwin On twitter a few days ago, I had a conversation with Eleanor @ WokStar and we discussed woks we use for curries. For foodies like me interested in Asian cooking, woks, steamers, rice pots etc hold an endless charm. I LOVE my pots and pans and was happy to be introduced to a new Asian Cuisine resource at FoodServiceWarehouse.com. For those interested in Asian cuisine, this place is loaded with interesting information about…

A WALK THROUGH THE STREETS OF OLD DELHI
“We talk, we bake, we laugh, we are!” Jamie @ Life’s A Feast via twitter I love the jingle to that opening quote. It pretty much sums up our foodie lives taken over by blogging, baking, twittering… Comes via twitter from my friend Jamie – a mad-hatter American in Paris!! Sorry I’ve been a bit slack of late. Time continues to fly by & I’ve been a tad busy of late. Time flies otherwise as well, or maybe it’s just that i’m getting old. After all, my little blog here is turning 2 today! It’s been a long, fun journey, & I can’t believe I’ve come such a long way,…

Indian Style Chicken Wings the Monica Bhide way!
The recipe is a brilliant twist to the great American classic, and uses a cream marinade instead of a yogurt-based marinade which is conventionally used in Indian cooking. Indian Chicken Wings is a keeper of a recipe, so well worth stocking up spice jars for.”

INDIAN BERRY FRO YO … phalsa frozen yogurt
“Ice cream cravings are not to be taken lightly.” Betsy Cañas Garmon Blogging about food is something entirely fulfilling, a world I can unwind in. It’s a different space altogether, where you don’t have to seek inspiration. It’s there in every post, on everyblog. One such blog is Canela’s Kitchen Recipes, which belongs to lovely Gloria, who blogs from Santiago, Chile. She makes great use of fruit & has a mind-boggling array of fruity compositions on her blog. Gloria’s post about Blueberries & Raspberry Ice-cream is the source of inspiration for this fro yo that I made. The colour of her ice-cream was enough to unnerve me, & set me…
